Almost every roof truss company in San Diego will tell you that their most popular products are fink roof trusses.  In fact, these styles are probably the most commonly sold item for Roof Truss Manufacturers in San Diego.  Why is the fink roof truss style so popular?  There are several reasons, most of which have to do with how economical this form of truss roofing can be.  Builders overwhelmingly favor fink truss roofing styles because they remain the easiest and least expensive form of truss roofing.

What Is A Fink Roof Truss?

The fink roof truss is the most commonly seen type of truss, consisting of a simple triangle with webbing inside.  This style is very versatile and easy to build, as well as highly efficient.  The shape of the truss  works by deflecting load down to the wall plates. 

Some of the advantages of fink truss style roofing include:

●       Cost savings.  Of all the different types of truss roofing, the fink style remains the most affordable.  Because it is so easy to build and requires relatively little material, it is lightweight, easy to transport and stack, and easy to install.  The fink truss saves the manufacturer money at every phase of the process, and those savings can be passed along to the builder in the form of lower prices.  The most inexpensive fink trusses are built from cheaper woods, but still retain their strength and flexibility.  However, fink trusses are also very easy to manufacture in other woods, making it easy to customize an order to the client’s specifications.

●       Long span.  One of the greatest things about the fink truss is its incredible spanning ability.  Many fink truss styles can span up to thirty feet, making them ideal for today’s open-concept floor plans.  Some can span even longer distances.  In fact, trusses are now being manufactured that can span up to eighty feet without support, although these are usually custom made orders.  Whatever distances a builder needs to span without support walls, there may be trusses available for the job.  Fink trusses are the most commonly used in these applications and, with their relatively low angle pitches, can also be ideal to use in exposed-beam applications.

●       Low pitch.  The low pitch is another great feature of the fink truss style.  Most of these trusses have a pitch no greater than five inches per foot, making them very easy to roof.  Applying roofing materials becomes more difficult the greater the pitch, and roofing very steep roofs means more time and money as well as a greater possibility of injury.  With a fink truss roof, the application of sheathing and shingles can be accomplished quickly, easily and safely.
